The TTRPG will comprise a lavishly illustrated, hardback core book containing rules for players to run a RuneScape tabletop role-playing game which allows players to build themselves characters and discover Gielinor and make interesting and OSRS Gold original adventures. The TTRPG base book is fully compatible with the rules of fifth edition for Dungeons Dragons.
The RuneScape games will be Steamforged's 12th version of a video-based game for tabletop. Previous adaptations include those of the Monster Hunter: World board game, which grossed PS3.4 million through Kickstarter in 2021.
The trading of virtual currencies in exchange for real money could be a major issue for many online games. It can disrupt in-game economies, disrupting player experiences and turning games into win-to-win opportunities. In RuneScape the trading in its digital 'gold' is one of the biggest issues and has led to bots extracting the resource, as well as accusations that the option to buy 'bonds' in the game in real money amounts to gambling.
Today, Jagex has set out plans to take on the issue. In a blog post and credited to "The RuneScape Team", the publisher states that "gold that is purchased through RWT is a problem in any online game that uses an option to trade currency" however, even though its "Anti-Cheating Team has been doing a lot to tackle RWT sellers in both the games and outside" the company will be taking more drastic measures with immediate beginning.
In a statement, Jagex claims to have a "growing team " and "improved technology", Jagex says it will no longer just be focused on sellers of gold and resources with RWT but also buyers. The goal is to reduce the demand, and supply.
Jagex announces that it will be sending "messages to those who we've identified as being involved in Buy OSRS Gold the RWT" within "the next few hours". "For those who have been involved, we'd like to make clear that this is your sole message, and the only one," the company added.
