There's plenty of fresh content with Episode 5 to PSO2 Meseta keep players busy, and the story is back to being focused around ARKS and fighting the Dark Falz. Hiro Arai from Sega has been live for almost an hour to show footage off of gameplay and also speak about what new things are on the way. Not much was mentioned about the present game and the upgrade coming alongside NG's launch aside from the graphic update, which is looking fantastic.
Maps are no longer split into regions with loading screens. NG is going to have an entirely open world from the home base to the area. The TGS footage showed off a gorgeous new world that is a significant update from the current game. Arai cites that different areas can be attained seamlessly by simply exposing the entire world. It looks like this is the planet Naberious from the current game, with forests being next to tundra and other areas. Areas continue to be technically split up, but there is no loading between these. While it has not been directly mentioned, an open world such as this implies there may not be single celebration places . Most shown in the footage were multi-party areas in which there were other players. The cover for multi-party areas continues to be reduced to eight from twelve at the present PSO2, but that you see will differ from area to area.
Weather is making a much better comeback as it affects dynamically and may impact the battlefield, even though the size of the impact wasn't spoken of. Time may also change, and footage showed some nice touches like fireflies in the woods at night. There is no word on fast travel, vehicles or mounts nevertheless, but Sega has implemented some new methods for players to move quickly across this new world. Players will have the ability to run faster following a dodge both in and outside of combat. A blue series follows underfoot, so you'll know you are doing it right when you see it.
Another significant addition to motion shown off in the initial NG trailer is the slide. It goes as far as a few of those screenshots have made it look. Players may get to high ground and leap off to slide and get pretty damn far through the map. Like in Breath of the Wild, you'll be able to make you are way up a mountain to glide off from -- but without anything inhibiting you enjoy stamina. It'll also make for some dramatic entrances in to conflict. It's a lot more intuitive than the present game.
