World of Warcraft: Wrath in the Lich King Classic is determined to release ahead of the end of the year, even though fans already knew Blizzard will be making some changes to the beloved expansion, the state blog post provides new details along with the reasoning to their rear.

In the article, Blizzard outlines a few core design pillars that have informed the way the company is approaching the re-release. The first pillar is usually to "nurture and protect social experiences." The social nature of WoW Classic has become one of the defining features, and Blizzard is planning to preserve that in both Wrath from the Lich King Classic as well as in future WoW Classic releases. As such, features just like the automated group finder, which was added late in the original Wrath from the Lich King's life, definitely won't be found in Wrath in the Lich King Classic.

Aside from the social aspect, another key pillar of WoW Classic for Blizzard is keeping the action approachable and familiar. Too many changes can readily destroy the familiarity and approachability many players have for classic expansions. On the other hand, with regards to keeping things approachable means Blizzard isn't afraid to tinker with systems that by today's standards can come across as confusing. Blizzard uses Wrath with the Lich King's Emblem system as one example, calling an original system "needlessly complex and confusing." The new system found in Wrath on the Lich King Classic will discover players earn two kinds of Emblems: one type in the most current raid content utilized to purchase the latest gear, and another type from older raids and dungeons familiar with purchasing less powerful items.

The last pillar Blizzard defines would be the idea that the joy of Azeroth would be the main character of WoW Classic, with the objective of immersing players inside the World of Warcraft. That means Blizzard definitely won't be making excessive changes to the world itself. One example of this philosophy in action may be the previously announced decision not to include more in-depth quest tracking features illustrating players were to embark on their map, a characteristic added late in the initial Wrath from the Lich King.

As for other changes being released Wrath in the Lich King Classic, Blizzard writes will probably be ramping in the difficulty on the expansion's Naxxramas raid and you'll be looking to keep Heroic dungeons both relevant and challenging through the entire expansion.

In a different forum post, Blizzard also announced a 50% XP boost event called "Joyous Journeys" which will likely be coming to Burning Crusade Classic servers previous to Wrath with the Lich King Classic's launch, that should help players planning to level up new characters ahead on the expansion's release. Blizzard won't have an exact duration or start date for that XP boost yet but expects the big event to work for roughly 6-8 weeks until the release of Wrath with the Lich King Classic. The XP boost will initially exist on the new Wrath from the Lich King Classic fresh start servers through the game's pre-patch.
