I am a huge fan of Diablo and have been obsessed by it in a way I've never been before with any Blizzard game. I'm certain it's the same with other games. Creating new IP clearly works for your company, but you are able to offer classic games that fans really would like to see more of, such as D2R Items as well as Diablo. What is your opinion on creating new versus leaning on the old? Do you plan to explore older material similar to what you have done by playing a wild classic? Or is there still something to explore in StarCraft and the next game?
You know, I think we're blessed to have four massive IPs, which include WarCraft, StarCraft, Diablo and Diablo. In addition, you can find Heroes that is kind of a subset of an amalgamation of every types of borrowings that come from all the parts of the IPs.
I believe that's an extremely effective feature. If I go back to an earlier question where I discussed these IPs, and the potential of many of them in supporting different gaming experiences This is something we're always going to look for.
I personally think that there are often characters and awesome stories, as well as plenty of games, and lots of gaming experiences we can create in any of our IPs. I think there's plenty space and room for this. But I also think it's important to remember that it's important to be thinking about new things too.
And so both are important. Fans would like to see additional StarCraft games. I'm a big fan, and I also want to play more StarCraft games. Fans want the expansion of Diablo games. I'm a huge fan, but I too want more Diablo games. Fans want new IP, me too.
Also, when are discussed as a matter of "What kind of IP we should be using and how do we be thinking about it?" the team has a lot of authority to make decisions on that.
