According to Blizzard's customer service Twitter account the outages may be due to an issue that is affecting Game's servers for D2R Ladder Items authentication which can result in players experiencing "failed" or "slow" login attempts. These server issues began after Blizzard updated players on the Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch versions of the game on October 6.
This patch was commonplace, solving problems with player profiles not being able be shared with their online accounts and also players not being notified when the game linked to their Xbox Live accounts. One change made it so that players weren't prevented from creating a game in their own region after joined a match in another region.
The Twitter account of customer support for Blizzard has published numerous updates to let players know that they are aware of the issues players are experiencingand the team's efforts in implementing fixes. The account has tweeted repeatedly the message that "Today's log-in and game problem have been resolved," but these maintenance efforts don't seem to address the problem.
Players have taken to both Twitter as well as Reddit to vent about the issues they've experienced while attempting for Diablo II: Resurrected. Although some players on r/Diablo have come up with memes on the game's login problems, others have claimed that the issues are carrying them into "i would like a refund area."
The Blizzard support Twitter account has repeatedly thanked players for their patience, some players have become frustrated with the ongoing difficulties, and have begun their own hashtag, #RefundD2R. "Damn folks, your login issues occur on a regular basis," one Cheap D2R Items person tweeted along with the hashtag, and another player who was furious posted, "same day, same time, same channel. This is unbelievable. 5 days in this crap."
