Act-1 Black Marsh Rune Farming

Here's how to go about it. Hephasto the Armor guards the Hellforge. You will be able to defeat him and receive the Hellforge Hammer. This is necessary in order to break the stone.
When you've got the Hammer, the Mephisto's Soulstone will appear , and you'll be capable of smashing it. You'll receive a rune and some gems after you smash the stone. Fair deal!
Act-5 Mount Arreat
Mount Arreat Act-5, another great place to find runes. Although you will always have three runes to choose from but the quality of these runes is low.
Despite their lower quality however, they are important because they can be used to create runes in Horadric Cube to create higher-level runes later on.

The method for farming Travincal is similar to that of the Secret Cow Level. Keep killing enemies that appear until you get your hands on the rune.
Chaos
Chaos is the best combination of Travincal and Cow Level. You get an area rife with High Runes when you combine the two.
Similar to the Cow Level you will be attacked by a horde of monsters dropping High Runes in a steady rate. Cut and kill the many creatures until you get your desired high rune.
Arcane Sanctuary
Arcane Sanctuary is another place in which you could obtain good high-level Runes.
The gist here is that the ghosts in this location have a very limited drop rate, therefore when you kill them, you have a higher chance of dropping runes. Make sure you don't kill them, and be sure you check the ends of the trails for chests.
The chests are filled with items of high-level, such as runes.

Below are a few other places that you can add to your search list. These aren't as efficient as the ones that are listed above. These locations can be a great alternative to hotspots that you're familiar with. Also, you'll get High Runes in case you're bored of them.
What are the best places to farm in Diablo 2
The Pit Area: Level 85 with easy enemies. Level 2 will always have a Gold Chest. The Pit is also known as Pit Run. Pit Run.
The Ancient Tunnels: Level 85 zone There are no cold Immune monsters, and always has a Golden Chest.
Chaos Sanctuary Level 85 Area, dense, large amount of Unique Monsters Extremely difficult.
World Stone Keep: 85 Area with high density, a large number of Unique Monsters. Most difficult.
Secret Cow Level/Moo Moo Farm Level 81 with high density. The area is challenging for melee builds however, there are no monster immunity.
The best farms generally have a large area level (85 being the most high) to ensure that the rarest items in the game actually drop from Champions and Unique monsters in that region. Monsters with a level of 87 can drop the best items. Champions will be level 85 in an area with the level 85, and Unique monsters can only be levels of 88.
Additionally, the best farming areas typically have a high density of monsters to increase the number boss packs to kill and decrease the time spent travelling between enemy groups. Certain regions are better for certain types of builds, especially those that don't have immunity to the type of damage the builder chooses.
