World of Warcraft Classic: Guide To The Darkmoon Faire

Darkmoon Faire has arrived once more, and here's everything WoW players have to know before attending the big event.

World of Warcraft has a myriad of activities and events to help keep players busy, and something popular is the traveling carnival, the Darkmoon Faire. This unique event happens monthly, appears in three different locations, and just like a proper traveling carnival, the Faire offers games, prizes, along with other incentives in return for special currency.

WoW's Darkmoon Faire trades tickets for prizes, there are several daily quests that players can perform to collect as much as possible. The Faire stays for any week, however, it returns the following month, and it'll take several trips to gather all those precious tickets.

Warning: The following guide is especially for the Wrath from the Lich King version of World of Warcraft: Classic. The Darkmoon Faire following the Cataclysm expansion is considerably different, for example being in a stationary location and trying to open, however, there are portals towards the modern island from the Darkmoon Faire within the old fairground locations.

Darkmoon Faire Locations

There are two places in Old Azeroth in which the fair sets up and one location in Outland. They rotate each month, going from Goldshire to Thunder Bluff after which to Shattrath before returning towards the woods of Elwynn again.

Elwynn Forest. The small wooded field just south of Goldshire is conveniently close to the Alliance capital city of Stormwind. Horde must tread softly to go to this location.

The Plains of Mulgore. The peaceful hills of northern Mulgore are quiet and isolated, alongside but well-separated in the high-mesas from the Tauren capital, Thunder Bluff.

South of Shattrath. The only neutral location from the Faire, it's located outside of the southern entrance of Outland's capital city in Terrokar Forest.

The Midway

Not all of the characters that players meet around the fairground are trading junk for tickets. Some can sell rare goods for old-fashioned gold, which items are only accessible when the fair is within the town. Proprieter Silas Darkmoon is generally near the front gate, flanked by bodyguards, greeting visitors.

Vendors

Sayge: Raiders still come go to Sayge for his precious scrolls and world buffs awarded simply by answering quick and easy questions. There's an opportunity to get a quest having a fortune when the player asks for any written version.

Flik: A vendor selling frog pets along with a leather ball that players can throw at each other.

Sylannia: The drink vendor, she sells unique beverages that can't be purchased elsewhere, like soda and slushies.

Stamp Thunderhorn: Enjoy Darmoon Dogs and Deep Fried Cruncybars from Sylannia's fellow vendor.

Professor Thaddeus Paleo: The prof sells several scrolls. Bring any Darkmoon decks for this NPC too.

Lhara: Shares a booth with Thaddeus and sells 2 kinds of uncut gems.

Quest Givers

These would be the NPCs that trade certain special goods for Darkmoon Faire tickets. Some have different tasks than others, but all reward the ball player with Darkmoon Faire tickets, except for one.

Kerri Hicks: The strong local woman, bring Kerri a Black Mace or perhaps a Dense Grinding Stone.

Yebb Neblegear: This creative goblin is building something, but he needs Vibrant Plumes, Glowing Scorpid Blood, and Evil Bat Eyes.

Rinling: This troll may be the local repair carnie but needs some Repair Kits and Thorium Widgets to complete his job.

Chronos: An NPC that rewards leatherworkers, he accepts several leather-crafted goods, most of which drop or can be bought during certain quests.

Morja: This NPC provides a quest, however, it's not such as a player might expect. Morja includes a secret quest along with a rare pet in return for any mug of Dark Iron Ale. This can simply be purchased within the Grim Guzzler, the tavern in Blackrock Depths.

Tip: Grinding rep using the Darkmoon Faire in WotLK does not have much benefit apart from tweaking some from the prices from vendors or counting towards one from the Exalted reputations which are part of the Insane In The Membrane Achievement.

The Darkmoon Faire Card Decks

These cards drop virtually anywhere within the open realm of Azeroth, even though they tend to appear more regularly in higher-level instances like Strathholme. Since Inscription was added to the game, some can simply be crafted. The Aces from all of these decks would be the most difficult to locate, dropping randomly from specific bosses in endgame raids and selling for any small fortune around the Auction House.

Tip: Every single deck requires that the ball player find a total of eight cards, from Ace to Eight, to accomplish a set. They all start the same quest: the deck is returned to the Darkmoon Fortune Teller or Professor Thaddeus Paleo for any reward.

Beasts Deck

Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon

Every successful spell cast gives a 2% chance that 100% of the player's mana will be restored for the next 15 seconds.

Blessings Deck

Darkmoon Card: Crusade

Gain 6 attack power with every attack, stacking up to 20 times, or gain 8 spell power with each magical attack, stacking up to 1o times.

Chaos Deck

Darkmoon Card: Berserker!

+100 to PvP Resilience and a chance to enter Berserker mode when dealing or taking damage in combat.

Elementals Deck

Darkmoon Card: Maelstrom

A chance to strike an opponent with lightning for 250 Nature damage.

Furies Deck

Darkmoon Card: Vengeance

When the wearer is hit, either with physical or magical damage, it has a 10% chance to do 105 Holy damage to the attacker.

Lunacy Deck

Darkmoon Card: Madness

A chance the player gains The Power of Madness when landing a killing blow in combat. This is a random effect that is determined by class.

Nobles Deck

Darkmoon Card: Greatness

A chance to increase Strength, Agility, Intellect, or Versatility - whichever is highest - by 105 for 15 seconds.

Portals Deck

Darkmoon Card: Twisting Nether

The wearer has a 10% chance to resurrect after death, with 20% of their health and mana.

Prisms Deck

Darkmoon Card: Illusion

Absorbs 1500 damage, and restores 1500 mana when removed.

Storms Deck

Darkmoon Card: Wrath

Direct damage that hits but doesn't crit gives the player a +12 to Critical Strike for ten seconds. The buff is consumed by a critical strike.

Undeath Deck

Darkmoon Card: Death

Adds 85 to Critical Strike ability and a chance to deal +2000 Shadow damage.

Warlords Deck

Darkmoon Card: Heroism

Has a chance to heal the wearer every time they hit an opponent in melee combat.

Note: The cards are of Blue quality, and also the decks are of Epic, or purple quality, as would be the trinkets players get from their store. There are four Lower Level decks of green and blue quality that only Inscriptionists could make; the Rogues, Swords, Mages, and Demon's Deck. These are strictly crafted and do not drop within the open world, however, they can be sold or traded.

The Darkmoon Faire Prizes

Return the tickets to the NPC Gelvas Grimegate to possess a choice of many fabulous prizes in return for tickets. Some are purely cosmetic, while some are important best-in-slot pieces for endgame players.
