Been sat up all night irritated by my next door neighbours noise. I bought this home outright as i never wanted to be weighed down with a mortgage. I had been informed by estates agents that it was a very good area and that I was very lucky. After working hard and saving up for years with my husband, we bought this three bedroon property as a home and an investment for our future.
After purchasing this home and moving in, things went from great to bitter quite quickly.
The neighbours directly to our left, have pit bull dogs which am very certain they are illegal! The dogs are out all night and day, howling and barking and snarling. They shake and rattle my fence, which petrified me that they could come through. And I am worried for my own animals. We keep chickens and let them roam free in the garden for an hour or so, before putting them back in the Hen House. The chickens are so anxious about the dogs they barely come out. We hardly ever get eggs either.
We also have a cat, which we only let out separate to the chickens and he too seems scared of the pit bulls. The dogs are always unsettling us and I love to sit out in the garden but then I feel so worried they could come crashing through the fence into my yard.
I worry because I know pitbulls are very strong and have a strong grip on their jaws.
My husband spoke to the man next door and he came to the door with his wife, who began to scream at us, that they're just animals and what animals do. My husband was very polite and said that yes, dogs bark but its non stop. She slammed the door and told him to get lost.
We decided to approach the council instead. The council obviously spoke with them because the lady next door went bonkers and came round banging on our front door like she was the cops. She was raging mad and so I thought best ignore the door and then before I knew it police came and arrested her for breach of the peace and threatening behaviour. We have had dogs poop thrown up our front door and chucked over the fence. We have had them now playing loud music from early til late at night, they take something and start beating it on the wall that echoes through to ours. The dogs are yelled at to shut up, but I think he only screams because its annoying him.
I spoke to another lady who lives a few houses away and she says she has been trying to move but because the neighbours are so wretched, people are immediately turned off.
If I had seen their house before we moved, I wouldn't have bought this place. Its a lovely home but I am starting to get very depressed.
What do I do? I am in two minds to stay or to move. It would be extremely hard to sell.
Please advise.
