A draft UNSC resolution on Israel's assault in Gaza was vetoed by the US, drawing strong criticism from both allies and adversaries. This is the US's third veto of a UNSC resolution calling for an end to hostilities in Gaza. Rather, Washington is proposing a resolution of its own that would bolster a short-term truce contingent on the release of all Israeli prisoners.
