The CPN Maoist, led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Nepal, has broken away from the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led Nepali Congress and allied themselves with the CPN-UML, led by KP Sharma Oli. The three septuagenarians have dominated Nepal's political scene and pulled strings for years. This is in a nation where youth (under 4 make up more than 40% of the population. Real problems like young employment and welfare are pushed aside by the political upheaval.

The director of the Digital Futures Lab, Urvashi Aneja, along with Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa, examine the effects AI is already having on communities in the Global South, ranging from labor conditions to democracy and the environment, and why nations must go beyond "catching up with the North" when determining the role AI can and should play in their societies.
