2022 was certainly the most turbulent year for the United Kingdom, with three changing Prime Ministers in less than three months. Many have referred to political uncertainty as the New Normal in the UK. Others dubbed the catastrophe the end of the Tories.
After a coup, Ecowas lifted sanctions against Niger in an effort to maintain unity and stability.
The Economic Community of West African States, or ECOWAS, has eased sanctions against Niger in response to a military takeover that raised fears of national disintegration. The regional bloc has established prerequisites for communication and interaction with other nations. The coup that occurred earlier this month resulted in President Mahamadou Issoufou's removal. In reaction to the coup, ECOWAS imposed sanctions on Niger, including border closures and trade suspensions. Although the situation is still precarious, easing the sanctions is a welcome step towards resolving the problem.
Myanmar: In the vicinity of the Thai border, violence increases
Burma is in crisis; the Junta there had to withdraw from their base near Thailand's border after being bombarded by rebel drones. Myawaddy, a vital trading outpost, has been taken over by Junta forces. Once the strategically important Border Town was turned into a rebel and military Junta battleground, hundreds of refugees fled across the river Frontier, separating Myanmar from Thailand.
