The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will remove its sanctions against Niger.
The sanctions imposed on Niger by the West African regional organization ECOWAS are to be lifted. These restrictions include border closures and the suspension of financial transactions. According to its officials, the decision was made with humanitarian concerns in mind. Three members of ECOWAS declared their departure from the West African regional organization, and now the organization's leaders are gathering.
