Gaza's al-Shifa hospital was surrounded by Israeli forces when they started shooting.
Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City is surrounded by Israeli forces. Within the medical facility, there have been reports of fatalities and injuries. A video that has been posted online depicts a large number of Palestinians leaving the facility. Hundreds of displaced people, medical personnel, and patients are taking refuge. The health ministry in Gaza issued a statement in which it declared that the lives of medical personnel, patients, and internally displaced persons within the medical complex were the responsibility of the Israeli occupation. Using made-up stories to "deceive the world and justify the storming of al-Shifa," it goes on to declare that the Israeli operation is a blatant breach of international humanitarian law.
The penultimate day of the G7 meeting in Italy was dominated by tension between Israel and Iran. Foreign ministers threatened more penalties against Iran while urging a de-escalation. They also issued a warning against a full-scale military operation in Rafah regarding Gaza.
