Thailand's seasonal agricultural burning causes health problems and air pollution.
Thailand's prime minister has promised to take every necessary action to combat air pollution in the north. Forest fires and farmers lighting their property on fire to remove crops have produced a massive cloud of dangerous pollution. The air pollution caused by the smoke and ash from these fires can cause respiratory disorders and other health concerns for the nearby communities. The amount of fine-particle dust in the air has made Chiang Mai one of the most polluted cities in the world.
