Honoring Taiwanese identity: a dialect that was once outlawed reappears
Taiwan observes February 28 as the anniversary of the Chinese nationalist government's 1947 crackdown. After 77 years, Taiwanese people celebrate a completely different identity from the one they feel mainland China imposed on them. Reviving a language that was formerly outlawed in public life is one way they're achieving this.
The extraordinary heatwave in India has claimed scores of lives in just 24 hours. With this, the death toll from heatwaves around the country has surpassed 150.
