Volcano Iceland: a state of emergency is declared as lava engulfs the town. As lava from an erupting volcano overtook a nearby town, Iceland's prime minister proclaimed a state of emergency. Many of the houses in the fishing town of Grindavik caught fire as molten lava rushed into it. The previous day, the final citizens left after the government ordered the town to be evacuated. Lindy Cameron, the UK's first female envoy to India
India now has its first female high commissioner, nominated by the United Kingdom. According to Lindy Cameron, she will likely take up her new position later. Her appointment coincides with the UK and India's ongoing free trade agreement negotiations, which both parties have stated they hope to conclude by the end of the year.
