Despite imprisonment for years, he was well-respected worldwide and Vladimir Putin's most outspoken critic. As soon as Russia declared Alexey Navalny dead, that voice of disapproval was muffled. Leaders around the world have not hesitated to accuse Putin of eliminating yet another Russian who ventured to oppose him. Next month, voters will have the opportunity to decide if Putin is re-elected for a fifth term. The vote was widely seen as inevitable because so few voices opposed his protracted leadership. So, who could take his place?
Conflict in Myanmar: Thailand prepares for cross-border refugees
Following days of conflict between insurgents and the military junta in Myanmar, Thailand's foreign minister paid a visit to the country's border. The government of Thailand says it is prepared to provide 100 thousand refugees fleeing the fighting with temporary housing.
