Iceland has declared a state of emergency following a fourth volcano eruption in three months.

According to an Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO) announcement, a "volcanic eruption has started between Stori-Skogfell and Hagafell on the Reykjanes Peninsula." Images captured in real-time revealed billowing smoke and blazing lava. The explosion started in the Blue Lagoon thermal spa, one of Iceland's most popular tourist destinations, and hundreds of people were evacuated, according to national television RUV.
