Increased airstrikes by the US and the UK target Houthi targets in the capital of Yemen In a joint statement, the US and UK claimed that their armies had attacked 36 Houthi targets in 13 different places throughout Yemen, assisted by Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. As per the statement, the purpose of the strikes was to weaken and hinder the ability of the Houthi militia, which is supported by Iran, to carry out their heedless and unstable assaults on American and foreign ships that were legally passing through the Red Sea. The statement claims that airstrikes destroyed Houthi missile systems, launchers, underground weapons storage sites, and other equipment.
Although the statement notes the Houthis' ties to Iran, it is unclear if these strikes are a part of the US's announced plans to retaliate for drone attacks on Jordan that resulted in the deaths of three US soldiers.

The opposition in Turkey declares victory in Ankara and Istanbul, dealing a blow to Erdogan.
In the largest setback to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in more than 20 years, Turkey's main opposition party has declared victory in local elections held in Istanbul and Ankara. Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu of the Republican People's Party (CHP) declared victory over Erdogan's running AK Party candidate by more than a million votes on Sunday, when more than 95% of Istanbul's voting booths had opened. Mansur Yavas of the CHP defeated his opponent in the capital city of Ankara, praising the outcome as a "clear message to those who rule this country." The CHP was also ahead in Izmir, Turkey’s third city. Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu is being tipped as a potential candidate in the 2028 Presidential vote in Istanbul. In total, CHP prevailed in 36 of Turkey’s 81 provinces, state-run Anadolu reported, making inroads into many AK Party strongholds. Opposition supporters gathered in Istanbul to celebrate the results, with tens of thousands of people lighting torches and waving Turkish flags.

War in Gaza: Relief workers were slain while delivering food to those "on the verge of starvation."
An Israeli airstrike has killed six foreign relief workers and a Palestinian driver. The American humanitarian organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) declared on Tuesday that one of its employees had been killed in an Israeli military "targeted attack." Palestine, Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, and a citizen of the United States and Canada were among the deceased. As WCK's employees were transporting food from their most recent shipment to Gaza—where Israel's offensive has driven hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to the verge of starvation—they were attacked. In the central town of Deir el-Balah, there was footage of the dead at a hospital. A few of them had on safety gear bearing the charity's emblem. UNICEF spokeswoman Tess Ingram said that following the deaths of seven relief workers in an Israeli airstrike, safety concerns for humanitarian workers are once again a priority. We're all very concerned about it. We recently held a meeting to discuss it here," she said. This tragic event brings the total number of individuals killed in the war to almost 30,000, including 174 UN colleagues. Thus, we are having a dismal day here. According to Ingram, peacekeeping forces and humanitarian organizations have mechanisms in place for collaboration to prevent attacks like this one. Here in the Gaza Strip, that isn't working. We've been letting people know for some time now that it's not working and that we're not receiving the necessary security assurances. The fact that these folks died while merely attempting to bring food to those who were about to go hungry makes the situation even worse. It is an inconceivable loss.
