US earthquake: A 4.8-magnitude earthquake strikes New Jersey and New York
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that an earthquake of magnitude of 4.8 shook the northeastern US on Friday morning, causing vibrations to travel down the Atlantic coast between Boston and Philadelphia. The earthquake's epicenter was in Lebanon, New Jersey, about 45 miles (72 km) west of New York City. The quake caused buildings in crowded Manhattan and all five boroughs to tremble. The USGS estimates that up to 45 million individuals may have felt the shocks.
UK: Tory party struggles to recruit 150 candidates after losing MPs. The Conservative Party of the United Kingdom stated that it still lacks candidates to contest in around 150 constituencies. According to one source, the party was ready with candidates for three-quarters of the seats in the United Kingdom. This implies that 474 of the 632 seats remain vacant, leaving 158 seats open. In Northern Ireland, the party usually does not present any candidates.
