Oceans smash records for high temperatures in the world's warmest February ever.
According to scientists in the European Union, last month's ocean temperatures reached a record high, and February was also the warmest on record worldwide. According to a dataset dating back to 1979, the average worldwide sea surface temperature in February was 21.06 degrees Celsius (69.91 degrees Fahrenheit), breaking the previous record of 20.98 degrees Celsius (69.77 degrees Fahrenheit) set in August 2023. The EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) released this information on Thursday. In contrast, February's average air temperature was 1.77C (3.18F) warmer than the pre-industrial normal of 13.54C (56.4F). It was the warmest month of the year for that particular month for the tenth time in a row. Carlo Buontempo is a director at Copernicus Climate Change Service. He discusses live from Brussels with us.

Dozens of Palestinians are killed by Israeli overnight attacks around the Gaza Strip.
There have been increased attacks by the Israeli military in Gaza's north, center, and south. Several of the most recent attacks have claimed the lives of numerous Palestinians. In an attack on a residential building in Gaza City, in the north, at least ten people lost their lives. The hospital, Al Shifa, which is about to collapse completely, received the bodies. In the center of Gaza, Israeli forces also bombarded residences in Zawaida and the Nuseirat refugee camp. There were at least 17 Palestinian fatalities. Because there were no corpse bags or shrouds, their remains were covered in blankets. Supplies of vital medical equipment are running low throughout the strip.

War in Gaza: Relief workers were slain while delivering food to those "on the verge of starvation."
An Israeli airstrike has killed six foreign relief workers and a Palestinian driver. The American humanitarian organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) declared on Tuesday that one of its employees had been killed in an Israeli military "targeted attack." Palestine, Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, and a citizen of the United States and Canada were among the deceased. As WCK's employees were transporting food from their most recent shipment to Gaza—where Israel's offensive has driven hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to the verge of starvation—they were attacked. In the central town of Deir el-Balah, there was footage of the dead at a hospital. A few of them had on safety gear bearing the charity's emblem. UNICEF spokeswoman Tess Ingram said that following the deaths of seven relief workers in an Israeli airstrike, safety concerns for humanitarian workers are once again a priority. We're all very concerned about it. We recently held a meeting to discuss it here," she said. This tragic event brings the total number of individuals killed in the war to almost 30,000, including 174 UN colleagues. Thus, we are having a dismal day here. According to Ingram, peacekeeping forces and humanitarian organizations have mechanisms in place for collaboration to prevent attacks like this one. Here in the Gaza Strip, that isn't working. We've been letting people know for some time now that it's not working and that we're not receiving the necessary security assurances. The fact that these folks died while merely attempting to bring food to those who were about to go hungry makes the situation even worse. It is an inconceivable loss.

Students supporting Palestinians have set up camp outside University College London. They claim they would continue to demonstrate until the university divests from Israeli institutions that 'benefit from the conflict in Gaza'.
