Following a contentious vote, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was elected to a second term.
For a second term, Shehbaz Sharif has been voted prime minister by Pakistani politicians. Voter fraud accusations and political violence tainted last month's elections. A majority was not won by a single party. However, in order to create a coalition government and enable Sharif to be elected, the two biggest parties in parliament worked together.
Mali As one opposition lawmaker put it, the junta's order to cease political activity was collectively rejected on Thursday by political parties and civil society organizations, who also pledged to file a legal challenge against the "dictatorial" action. Following a coup in 2020, military control has been in place in West Africa. Due to growing tensions, major parties and other organizations denounced the junta on March 31 for failing to schedule elections by the agreed-upon deadline.

Israeli military marches further into Rafah and has complete control of the Philadelphi corridor.
The Israeli military is moving its soldiers farther into the center and western areas of Rafah. After throwing the city into complete darkness overnight, Israeli forces took more of the border territory with Egypt known as the Philadelphi Corridor. This follows Israeli attacks on numerous sections of Rafah overnight and early Wednesday. Almost all of the hospitals are out of operation.
