Calls to halt the "bloodbath" in Gaza as 274 Palestinians are killed in an Israeli attack
An Israeli attack on the Nuiserat refugee camp resulted in the release of four Israeli prisoners and the death of at least 274 Palestinians. Josep Borrell, the senior ambassador for the European Union, denounced the assaults on Saturday and demanded an immediate stop to what he refers to as a "bloodbath." Hours of airstrikes, bombardment, and fierce gunfights between Israeli special forces and Hamas were inflicted upon the Palestinian people. According to Hamas, three other prisoners—including a US citizen—were also slain during the operation.

Myanmar: In the vicinity of the Thai border, violence increases
Burma is in crisis; the Junta there had to withdraw from their base near Thailand's border after being bombarded by rebel drones. Myawaddy, a vital trading outpost, has been taken over by Junta forces. Once the strategically important Border Town was turned into a rebel and military Junta battleground, hundreds of refugees fled across the river Frontier, separating Myanmar from Thailand.
Egypt, Qatar, and the US encouraged Israel and Hamas to finish the Gaza truce pact.
Qatar, Egypt, and the United States pushed Israel and Hamas to subscribe to the principles articulated by US President Joe Biden. Far-right ministers in Israel's current coalition, however, have vowed to topple Netanyahu's government if he accepts such a deal. The Israeli opposition is encouraging the government to embrace Biden's latest ceasefire plan for Gaza. Still, Netanyahu has declared that conditions have not changed and that he would not accept a lasting ceasefire until Hamas is destroyed. Osama Hamdan, a Hamas spokesperson, described Biden's proposal as "positive" but stated that the party had yet to receive any formal documentation.

Xander Schauffele prepares for Olympic title defense after winning the PGA Championship.
Two weeks ago, Xander Schauffele won the PGA Championship, establishing himself as a new Major Champion. The 30-year-old birdied the 18th hole to beat Bryson DeChambeau of LIV Golf by one stroke. Schauffele's success at Valhalla Golf Course ended his long search for a Major championship. He is one of the sport's most consistent players, and the win propelled him to second place in the standings, trailing only Scottie Scheffler. Schauffele reminisced on his victory and looked ahead to the United States.
Following poor earnings, Snapchat shares fall by more than 32%. Snap, the owner of the social media company Snapchat, is having its worst day since July 2022. The company's stock dropped 32% after it revealed earnings that were below expectations. Getting advertising appears to be Snap's largest challenge as businesses move to more reliable companies like competitor Meta.
