Mexico is preparing for the largest elections it has ever had. Decisions will be made on over 20,000 offices, including the presidency. But violence has become a part of the nation's election season. This time, the killing started prior to the official commencement of the campaign.
Memorial demolished: In St. Petersburg, mourners placed flowers for Alexey Navalny
In Russia, a flower memorial to opposition leader Alexey Navalny was destroyed. Overnight, unidentified individuals took flowers that had been placed at the monument honoring victims of political repression in Saint Petersburg. There are also reports of other tributes being destroyed. Around the country, Russians attempting to grieve were detained by police. According to prison officials, Navalny passed away on Friday in an Arctic prison colony from what they refer to as "sudden death syndrome."
After floods and landslides struck Sumatra, Indonesia, at least 26 people died.
There are currently at least 11 persons missing in Indonesia following a landslide in Sumatra, according to rescue teams. Due to the intense rain and flooding, 26 individuals have passed away. Another river had its banks blown away by the storm. Indefinitely displaced are almost 39,000 people.
Unrest in Chad: A military dictator announces a bid for president
The late President Idriss Deby's son, Mohamed Deby, has denied that he intended to run for office after his father passed away. The denial coincides with information surfacing about security raids on opposition offices in Chad that resulted in the former leader's murder. With Mohamed Deby leading a military council, the situation in Chad is still tricky.

ISIL has taken credit for the attack on Friday at a well-known concert venue complex outside of Moscow, which resulted in over 100 injuries and at least 40 fatalities when attackers broke into the building brandishing firearms and setting off fireworks.
