D2R Act 1 Guide

We're pleased to introduce this page, which is our Act 1 Guide for Diablo 2 Resurrected (D2R). Here we'll lay out all the information as well as tips and tricks to help you complete Act 1 with ease.

The Den Of Evil is the first quest you will encounter in Act I. The Den Of Evil is situated in The Blood Moor zone right outside the Rogue Encampment. When you are ready to begin your adventure, go to for the Blood Moor and find the cave entrance, which is called Den Of Evil.


It is the quest that will kill Blood Raven is the second quest of Act 1. This quest involves the execution by Blood Raven. When you've completed the Den of Evil quest, return outside the town into the Blood Moor and search the outer walls for Cold Plains.


When you are in the Cold Plains be sure to grab the waypoint. After grabbing the waypoint proceed to the outside of the area until you reach The Burial Grounds(Note that the way to Stony Field, too is connected in The Cold Plains but is not the path you're looking to go down yet).


Blood Raven is an archer found inside the fencing of The Burial Grounds. The Blood Raven is able to summon zombies and shoots poisonous archers. Antidote remedies and potions to improve health are recommended.


Once Blood Raven is dead Return in town to talk to Kashya(4) to get your reward.


The Search For Cain is the third and final quest in Act 1. It is provided by Akara(1) and is a long quest.


The quest entails getting the scroll from The Tree of Inifuss and bringing it to Akara(1) to be translated and used at the Cairn Stones to enter Tristram and get rid of Cain.


After you've defeated Blood Raven and finished quest 2, return to the Cold Plains and look for the entry point into The Stony Field. Once you have entered Stony Fields, look around in the area for the waypoint as well as the Cairn Stones.


Be careful approaching these stones because Rakanishu is always around and emits a lightning-like aura when it is attacked. Keep this area in your thoughts as you explore for the Stony Field for the entrance to the Underground Passage. The entrance is typically situated on the other side of the map but can be found in the fields. Upon entering through the Underground Passage you will be seeking an exit known as The Dark Wood.


There's an Underground Passage 2 but that zone only has a golden chest with some loot within it. Once you find your way to the Dark Woods exit, you will be looking seeking an area known as the Tree of Inifuss. The tree is protected by a mighty group of brutes , led by Treehead Woodfist and he has super-strong attacks and is extremely fast so be wary.


If you're unable to kill him, Kite him until you are able to circle around and click on the Tree and take the Scroll that drops. In this area, there is a waypoint. Make certain to get it. Once you get the Scroll of Inifuss and the waypoint, you can return on Akara(1) at In the Rogue Encampment to have her find the scroll.


Once completed, return to the Stony Fields to find the Cairn Stones and then use the scroll. When you use the scroll, it will inform you of the proper order in which to click the stones(Note - you don't have to click on the scroll if it doesn't interest you the scroll, you just need to click the stones and it will flash.)


After clicking the correct stones the portal to Tristram will appear. Upon entering you will be taken to Tristram. Diablo 1 starting town of Tristram. In the middle of the town will be Cain being held in an enclosure. You can click on the cage to release him , and he'll return to the town. Do not hesitate to clean the area since there are many unique monsters for good experience points. After releasing Cain then return in the Rogue Encampment and speak to Cain(6) as well as Akara(1) to receive your rewards.


The Forgotten Tower is the Fourth quest in Act 1. It begins by reading The Moldy Tome within the Stony Field (Note - It is not required to read the book in order to complete the quest). After saving Cain Return in The Dark Woods and search the outside for the Black Marsh. Then, within the Black marsh you will find The Forgotten Tower.


It is recommended that you locate the waypoint to The Black Marsh before venturing inside as there are no exits. The Forgotten Tower is five floors with no exit fast. After you've located the waypoint venture forth into the tower.


As you enter the tower, work to descend through the tower floors until you get to floor number five. On this floor, the countess and her followers are in one of the main rooms. The Countess is a enchanted attack and spawns fire walls on the ground.


If she is killed, she'll shed runes, and the chest in her room will be opened up and spew gold. After the gold is found, return to Town and talk to the townspeople for some story. (Note it's useful for the countess to be a farmer a several times to gain some starter runes for low level runewords)


The Tools of the Trade is the fifth quest in Act I. This quest is started by Charsi(2) where she'll ask you to find the Horaderic Malus from the Monastery. Once you have completed the fourth quest you can use the waypoint zone for a return trip to Black Marsh and search around the outside for the Tamoe Highlands. Inside the highlands is an entrance to the monastery.


After entering the monastery, you will move into a zone known as the Outer Cloister that has a waypoint in the middle. Once you've found the waypoint, look around outwards to locate the entrance to the Barracks. Go through the barracks in search of the Malus that is guarded by The Smith.


The Smith has a good amount of energy and can strike hard, so be prepared. If you cannot kill him you can take him down as you did with Woodfist. In his room is a clickable anvil which will take the malus.


Sisters to the Slaughter is the sixth and final battle in Act I. It involves the killing of Andariel as one of the lesser prime evils. Once you've returned Malus into Charsi(2) Utilize the waypoint location to return in your Outer Cloister and reenter the Barracks. Search the inside of the barracks for an exit into level 1.


Continue on through the levels of the prison, picking up the point on floor 1. As you get to floor 3, look for an exit labeled Inner Cloister. When you are in the Inner Cloister, get the waypoint located in the center and search for the entrance to the Cathedral. When you are navigating your way to the Cathedral, stay against the right or left side and look for the entrance of Catacombs Level 1.


The Skeleton Mage, the only one of its kind Bone Ash will be around inside the Cathedral so don't hesitate to kill him prior to going down. Inside the Catacombs begin your journey through to level 4 while making sure to grab the waypoint at level 2. When you reach Catacombs Level 4, there are only 3 rooms.


Clear out the first and the second room and you'll find a big door that leads to the third. In this room are Andariel and her gang of minions. It is recommended to put down a town portal near the stairs leading to the entrance before trying to battle Andariel. Andariel's skills include poison frontal cone as well as a poison melee as well as a single long-range poison bolt. Make sure you stock up on potions and possibly an antidote or two prior to engaging.


When she dies, she will proceed to burn up while a portal is set to open for her return to the town. Speak to the locals for a bit of lore and then speak to Warriv(5) and head East. Congrats, you've completed in the initial act, and you are now on you way to the next. Lut Gholein.
