massive explosion at an Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces military base
Late on Friday, a massive explosion shook a Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) military installation south of Baghdad, two PMF and two security sources told Reuters. According to the two security sources, the explosion occurred on Friday night at around midnight as a result of an unidentified airstrike. The two PMF sources noted that while there were no injuries due to the strikes, there was material damage. According to PMF sources, the strikes were aimed at the PMF headquarters located at the Kalso military installation, which is close to the town of Iskandariya, approximately 50 kilometers south of Baghdad.

8 million internally displaced Sudanese since April of last year - World at War
For the last eleven months, the Republic of Sudan—the third-largest country in Africa—has been devastated by conflict. On April 15, hostilities broke out between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, or RSF, and the Sudanese armed forces. Following the toppling of former strongman Omar Al-Bashir in 2019, the army under Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the RSF under Mohamed Hamadan Dagalo shared authority with civilians. Additionally, the army and RSF collaborated to carry out a coup in 2021. However, the planned integration of the paramilitary RSF into the regular army—a politically motivated shift plan approved by the international community—caused a deterioration in ties between the army and the RSF. More than 8 million people have been displaced by the conflict since it started in mid-April. It has also destroyed the capital city of Khartoum, sparked a humanitarian catastrophe, and led to ethnically motivated killings in Darfur. The Sudanese army now claims to have retaken the state broadcaster's Omdurman headquarters on March 12th, marking the biggest victory over rival paramilitary group RSF. The World Bank promises Egypt $6 billion as international assistance surges.
The World Bank has offered Egypt a $6 billion support package over three years. Half of this will go directly to government programs, while the other half attempts to support the private sector. This follows an enhanced $8 billion credit plan approved by the International Monetary Fund in March.
