Israeli troops at the gate entrance beat other people who were attempting to enter the facility. The third-holiest place on the Muslim calendar is the Al-Aqsa compound. Israeli officials have restricted the amount of persons who can enter since October 7. Many Palestinians living in Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem worry that more Israeli restrictions will exacerbate the conflict.
Argentina's economic crisis: Public servants demonstrate against layoffs
Teachers and former government employees in Argentina have joined the current wave of protests. They are protesting the economic measures proposed by President Javier Milei. The government has accepted a nearly five billion dollar IMF bailout package, coinciding with the austerity measures that Milei pledged during his presidential campaign. Critics claim that the reductions have caused poverty to rise to about 60%, but he argues that the measures are vital to support the economy.
Constitutional revisions in Somalia: Parliament adopts expanded presidential authority
The parliament of Somalia has adopted changes to the country's temporary constitution and revamped of the electoral process. They provide the president, not the parliament, the authority to name and remove the prime minister. An indirect clan-based electoral system is in place in Somalia. Puntland politicians are upset over the decision and have declared they would no longer recognize the federal administration. Regional authorities were upset that they had not been consulted on the modifications, according to Matt Bryden of Sahan Research.
HUGE WIN FOR J&J: Florida litigant's ovarian cancer was not caused by talc, the court said.
A Florida jury found that the ovarian cancer that killed a Florida woman in 2019 was not brought on by Johnson & Johnson's baby powder talc product. Patricia Matthey, whose family used Johnson's baby powder every day from 1965 until August 2016, when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, filed the complaint. Erik Haas, global vice president of litigation for Johnson & Johnson, stated that the verdict vindicated the corporation.
