Chiranjibi Nepal, Nepal's economic advisor, recently resigned amid criticism over the government's plan to incorporate a disputed map on the new 100-rupee banknotes. This map depicts Nepal's territorial claims in territories now controlled by India. The decision has strained relations between the two countries, with India voicing dissatisfaction. Civil society organizations in Nepal also criticized Mr. Nepal's public comments opposing the map's inclusion, calling them irresponsible and detrimental to national interests.
US State Department calls Iran's attack "reckless and irresponsible."
Speaking on behalf of the US State Department, Vedant Patel reiterates that the US is "ironclad and unwavering" in its support of Israel, even as discussions on "the importance of de-escalation" with Israeli officials and regional partners continue. "It's crucial to stand back and remember that we strongly condemn this careless and reckless attack by the Iranian regime. We are steadfastly committed to Israel's security and their right to self-defense." Iran claims that the attack it carried out over the weekend was a response to Israel attacking its consulate in Damascus; nonetheless, Patel contended that the scope of Iran's action qualified as a "violation". “The United States is still assessing the status of this facility [Iran’s consulate]. I don’t have any update to offer related to that. Still, again, the sheer number of ballistic missiles and drones that Iran unleashed on Israel is irresponsible and reckless.”
