Phantasy Star Online 2: What to Expect in Episode 4

Phantasy Star Online 2's large update is only one month off. Here's what content players can look ahead to if Episode 4 releases. August is gradually awakened, and it will come Phantasy Star Online 2 North America's next big upgrade. Sega has teased the game's first major update since launching on Twitter. If you've never played with the Japanese version of PSO2, it might seem a little crazy, but just because it's a significant departure from Episodes One through Three. There is a good deal of new content on the road and a few huge changes. Here's what to look forward to with the upcoming release of Episode Four.

Rather than continuing with Xiao or even the Dark Falz plots, players will cross to Earth at Phantasy Star Online 2. In the game, Earth exists and behaves as a transfer between the dimensions. Episode Four follows similar plot lines to popular anime series such as Sword Art Online or Accel World where video game characters cross around Earth, and people with a specific affinity can enter PSO2. It's a peculiar, light-hearted change from the sci-fi, balance of the cosmos episodes that players have experienced up to now.

In true arcade mode, the main characters consist mostly of high schoolers with this exceptional affinity, and strange events begin to happen around them. On the PSO2 side, you are going to meet some new characters and see old ones return, though most do not have a major role. Much of the plot takes place on Earth and entails finding the agenda of a high-tech organization, which eventually culminates in a lore link to PSO2's world. It is largely a one off Episode, but the link to Earth stays forever open in the world of PSO2. Since players are traveling to Earth, there are fresh Earth-related locales and enemies. One has already been released in the form of this Urgent Quest, Virtual Planet Battle Training. This place, modeled after Las Vegas, will be one of the new primary locations where Episode Four's Quests will occur. The other new principal place is that the roads of Toyko, even though it's not clear whether Sega plans to change this for the North American audience. Additionally, there are other locations for the narrative and new Urgent Quests, like the Moon.

Since they don't exist within this world, enemies on buy PSO2 Meseta Earth aren't Dark Falz. Instead, you'll see enemies known as Phantoms, that come in several different forms from Clowns to Steamrollers. They are mainly weak to the wind element, including bosses, but there are exceptions. The bosses are powerful humans or Kaiju versions of Earth objects like a three-headed subway train, so expect to see some craziness.
